High-Speed Internet Where Fiber Has Not Been Built

Fiber has not been trenched to a large share of residential streets, and no reseller can change that. These are the tiers that reach those addresses, with the upload and latency figures stated honestly rather than buried.

Who This Suits

Download speeds here overlap substantially with fiber — a 400 Mbps line streams 4K to four TVs just as well. The differences are upload, latency and peak-hour consistency, and whether they matter depends entirely on what your household does.

A household that mostly downloads

High-Speed 400. Four simultaneous 4K streams need roughly 100 Mbps and this tier has headroom over that. In daily use — streaming, browsing, occasional video calls — it is genuinely indistinguishable from fiber, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.

One person working from home

High-Speed 400 rather than 100. The 40 Mbps upload supports two 1080p calls plus a camera uploading. The 100 Mbps tier's 20 Mbps upload handles one comfortable call and not two, which is the constraint people hit and misdiagnose as a Wi-Fi problem.

An address that needs service this week

Either tier, self-install. The kit ships in 2-5 business days and needs no technician appointment at a pre-wired address. A fiber install at the same address, if it were available at all, would be 5-10 business days plus a wall penetration.

Equipment and Specification Detail

Both tiers in full, including the two figures that decide whether these suit you: upload, which is roughly a tenth of download by design, and the monthly data allowance.

Contract and Commitment

Term. Both tiers carry a 12-month term.

Early termination. Prorated against the months remaining, so the exposure falls each month you stay.

Equipment. The gateway stays with the service and must be returned within 21 days of disconnection or a non-return charge applies. Unlike fiber, you may run your own router: the supplied gateway goes into bridge mode and your hardware handles routing and Wi-Fi.

Data allowance. 1,200 GB monthly on both tiers — roughly 400 hours of 4K streaming. A household of two rarely approaches it. A household of five with several 4K TVs, cloud backups and large game downloads can, and it is worth counting honestly before choosing a capped tier.

Upgrading. Moving between these two tiers is a provisioning change on the same gateway, with no technician visit. Moving to fiber is a different install entirely, with a new drop and new equipment.

Why availability and terms are address-specific

What provisions at your address depends on the build that reaches your street and the tiers available on it, neither of which is the same two streets over. That is why this page publishes the full specification and confirms the commercial terms on the call rather than printing a figure that would be wrong for most readers.

Common Questions

How is this different from fiber?

Download speeds overlap substantially — a 400 Mbps line here streams 4K to four TVs just as well. The differences are upload, which is roughly a tenth of download rather than matching it; latency, which is roughly double; and consistency, because the coaxial segment is shared with your neighbours and can slow at peak hours.

What does the 1,200 GB data allowance mean in practice?

Roughly 400 hours of 4K streaming a month. A household of two rarely approaches it. A household of five with several 4K TVs, cloud backups and a gamer downloading large titles can reach it, and it is worth counting honestly before choosing a capped tier.

Is the self-install kit realistic?

At a pre-wired address, yes — it is connecting the gateway to an existing coaxial outlet and activating it from an app, usually under an hour. Where no active outlet exists in the room you want the gateway in, or where the existing wiring is degraded, a technician visit is the better call.

Can I upgrade to a higher tier later without a technician?

Between the tiers offered here, yes — it is a provisioning change and the same gateway handles both. Moving from this to fiber is a different install entirely and requires a new drop and new equipment.

Why is upload so much lower than download?

It is how the cable plant is designed. The return path from your house to the network is a narrower, shared channel, allocated on the assumption that households download far more than they upload. That assumption held for years and holds less well now that video calls and cloud backup are routine.
