Every Package We Sell
The first decision is monitored or not, and everything else follows from it. Both are legitimate; they solve different problems.

Monitored Essential
8 units
4 sensors · monitored
- Term
- 36 months monitoring

- Professional
- Dual monitoring path — cellular carries the signal if broadband is cut, which is the failure mode that matters
- 24-hour battery backup keeps the system armed and reporting through a power cut
- Equipment is owned, not rented, so nothing is returned if you cancel

- Video verification before dispatch — police prioritise verified alarms, and most jurisdictions do not levy a false-alarm charge on one
- Monitored smoke detection reaches the monitoring centre when the house is empty, which a standalone smoke alarm cannot do
- Glass-break coverage for patio sliders and fixed panes that contact sensors miss entirely

6 sensors · not monitored
- Term
- No term

- Self or professional
- No monitoring contract and no term — the reason most people choose this
- An alarm notifies your phone and sounds the local siren; nobody is dispatched unless you call
- Equipment purchased outright, so there is nothing to return and nothing to cancel
Details verified August 28, 2026
Camera Package

Cameras and storage, no sensors

- No term

- Local storage hub means recording survives a broadband outage and footage is not lost if a cloud plan lapses
- 2K outdoor cameras resolve a licence plate at roughly 20 ft and a face at roughly 30 ft; 1080p does neither reliably
- Colour night vision via integrated spotlight, rather than monochrome infrared, on the two outdoor units

Coverage Across Our Markets
Monitored security is available at effectively any address with power, across all 8 of our markets. It is not address-dependent the way internet is — there is no build that has to reach your street. What does vary by market is cellular signal strength for the panel’s primary path and the local install lead time, both of which we check on the call.
Many municipalities require an alarm permit for any system capable of causing a police dispatch. We tell you whether yours does, because an unpermitted dispatch usually carries a charge and it is the detail people most often find out about afterwards.
How Ordering Through Us Works
One call. We size the system against your actual floor plan — exterior doors first, then ground-floor opening windows, then glass-break for large fixed panes, then one motion detector on the interior path connecting the entry points. That conversation takes five minutes and produces a better-specified system than any online configurator, because the questions that matter are about your house.
We then book the install, coordinate the appointment, and stay the point of contact. If you are also ordering internet, both are handled in the same conversation and sequenced correctly — internet first, security second, because the panel provisions over the connection.
Every Placement Agreed Before Anything Is Drilled
A technician walks the property with you first: motion detector angles, glass-break acoustic paths, camera fields of view checked on a live feed including at night. Then a live test to the monitoring centre before they leave. An untested system is not an installed system.
The Install, Step by Step
- 01
System sized on the call
Openings counted, interior paths identified, camera positions discussed. Monitored smoke detection raised explicitly, because it is the device most often left off and most often regretted.
- 02
Appointment booked
5-12 business days for a professionally installed monitored system. 3-7 business days to ship an equipment-only package.
- 03
Technician attends
Two to four hours for a typical package. The property is walked and every placement agreed before anything is drilled — motion detector angles, glass-break acoustic paths, camera fields of view checked on a live feed including at night.
- 04
Live test to the monitoring centre
Performed and confirmed before the technician leaves, on every monitored package. An untested system is not an installed system.
Housing stock affects this more than most people expect. Homes built before roughly 1970 have plaster-and-lath, thicker masonry and non-standard door frames — adhesive mounting fails and radio range shortens, in ways that are not obvious until the system will not arm. Newer drywall construction with standard frames is genuinely fine to self install.
Common Questions
How many sensors does my home actually need?
Start with every exterior door, which is where the overwhelming majority of entries happen. Add ground-floor windows that open. Add one motion detector covering the path between the main entry points, which catches anyone who got past the perimeter. A typical three-bedroom home with two exterior doors lands at four to six devices; a four-bedroom with a patio slider and a side door lands at eight to ten.
What happens when the alarm actually triggers?
The panel signals the monitoring centre within seconds over the cellular path. An operator calls your primary contact, then your secondary. If neither answers, or a duress code is entered, they dispatch police or fire. Where video verification is available the operator reviews the clip first, which police treat as a confirmed intrusion and prioritise accordingly.
Does the system still work if the internet goes down?
On a monitored package, yes — cellular is the primary signal path and broadband is the backup, not the other way round. That ordering is deliberate, because cutting the broadband line is a trivially easy thing to do from outside a house. On an unmonitored package there is no cellular path, so app notifications stop.
Do I own the equipment or is it rented?
Owned outright from day one on every package. Nothing is returned if you cancel monitoring, and the hardware stays on your walls. What the 36-month term covers is the monitoring service, not the equipment.
Do I need a permit for a monitored alarm?
In many municipalities, yes. Any system capable of causing a police dispatch typically requires an annual alarm permit, and an unpermitted dispatch usually carries a charge. We tell you whether your city requires one during the call, because it is the detail most people find out about after the fact.
Will my pets set off the motion detectors?
Not below 40 lb, which covers most cats and small to medium dogs. Above that, placement matters more than the sensor specification — mounting height and angle are adjusted so the detection field sits above the animal's path. A technician handles this during a professional install; on a self install it is the adjustment most often needed after the first week.
Can I add cameras to a monitored system later?
Yes, and on a monitored package the addition is worth more than it looks: cameras on a monitored panel supply video verification, which changes how police treat the dispatch. Cameras added to an unmonitored system record for your own review only.
